- About ODP Committee
This committee was formed to tackle the
complexity and interoperability problems of enterprise systems. It
decided to take an approach of using standard viewpoints defined in
ITU-T Recommendations (X.902, X.903, and X.911) and ISO/IEC standards
(ISO/IEC 10746-2, 10746-3, and 15414): Reference Model of Open
Distributed Processing (RM-ODP). It also made use of UML Profile for
EDOC specification published by OMG. The strategy has been to divide
enterprise systems' complexity into five viewpoint specifications
(reducing the complexity) with a reference process for developing
consistent viewpoint specifications. The committee's scope now includes
application of Enterprise Architecture, MDA, UML 2.0, and emerging
ISO/IEC and ITU-T standard "Use of UML for ODP system specifications" to
the same problems.
