Invitation to
"Semantic Web Conference"

It is defined by W3C that Semantic Web is a vision : the idea of having data on the web defined and linked in a way that it can be used by machines not just for display purposes, but for automation, integration and reuse of data across various applications.

Since Semantic Web was proposed by Tim Berners-Lee in 1999, it has been regarded as one of the most promising Web technologies for the next generation, which may be able to promote the 2nd IT revolution and has been studied by many research projects in Europe and the United States.

Under these circumstances, Interoperability Technology Association for Information Processing, Japan (INTAP) and Keio Research Institute at SFC are to hold the following conference.

By this conference, the organizers wish that IT-related researchers in Japan will deepen their recognition on the technology and they will promote their research.

At the conference, there are presentations made by overseas and domestic researches about the latest situation of technology development of Semantic Web and XML together with the past history and future prospect of standardization activities by W3C.

In addition, there are presentations made from the business point of view by researchers of private enterprises about the latest situation of Semantic Web and XML technology.

The organizers strongly wish that as many people as possible who are interested in this new kind of technology will participate in the conference.
